FHWA (Federal HighWay Administration)
The FHWA directly administers a number of highway transportation activities including standards development, research and technology, training, technical assistance, highway access to federally owned lands and Indian lands, and commercial vehicle safety enforcement.

AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials)
AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico in all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.

ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers)

ITE members are traffic engineers, transportation planners and other professionals who are responsible for meeting society's needs for safe and efficient surface transportation through planning, designing, implementing, operating and maintaining surface transportation systems worldwide.

ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems)

The national ITS program, which aims to use advanced technology to improve the efficiency and safety of our Nation's surface transportation system, addresses both information- and infrastructure-based approaches to achieving its goals.
